May 16, Fineko/abc.az. U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen confirmed that the country may be in default on June 1.
ABC.AZ reports that she sent a warning about this on Monday to the leadership of the U.S. Congress, representing both the current ruling Democratic and opposition Republican parties.
"Due to the fact that additional information is now available, I write to note that we still believe the following: The Treasury Department is likely to be unable to meet all the government's obligations if Congress does not take measures to raise or suspend the debt ceiling by early June and potentially by June 1," Yellen's message says.
