Food prices have risen in Azerbaijan

May 10, Fineko/abc.az. The consumer price index in Azerbaijan for Jan-Apr 2023 made up 113.5% compared with Jan-Apr 2022, including 116.6% for foods, beverages and tobacco products, 111.8% for non-food products, 110.7% for paid services rendered to the population.

ABC.AZ reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee that the CPI in April 2023 was 100.3% compared with the previous month and 112.8% compared with April of the previous year.

The CPI for foods, beverages and tobacco products in April of this year made up 100.3% against the previous month and 115.1% versus April of the previous year.

According to the SSC, in April 2023, the largest increase against the previous month was observed in the prices of rice, waffles, cookies, beef and lamb, yogurt, sour cream, cheese, olive oil, tangerines, oranges, apples, pumpkin, carrots, onions, sugar, sweets, tea, mineral water, beer, tobacco products. And the decrease was mainly observed in the prices of bread, flour, buckwheat, fresh fish, eggs, table margarine, butter, sunflower and corn oils, bananas, cabbage, cucumbers, beets, potatoes, lentils.

There were no significant changes in the prices of other food products. The CPI for non-food products in April of this year made up 100.3% compared with the previous month and 111.3% versus April of the previous year.
