China increases gold reserves for 6th month in a row

May 8, Fineko/abc.az. China has been increasing its gold reserves for the sixth month in a row.

The Chinese government said it was doing so against the backdrop of growing geopolitical and economic risks around the world, ABC.AZ reports with reference to foreign media.

China thus increased its gold reserves by about 8.09 tons in April alone.

After the country increased its reserves by about 120 tons in the five months to March, it increased its total reserves to 2,076 tons.

According to the World Gold Council, the largest buyers of gold in the first quarter of 2023 were Singapore, China and Türkiye.
