CBA suffered loss from management of foreign exchange assets last year

April 26, Fineko/abc.az. The Central Bank of Azerbaijan suffered net loss from management of foreign exchange assets in the amount of $41.8 million in 2022. In 2021, the bank received revenue of $7.2 million from the management of currency reserves.

ABC.AZ informs with reference to CBA’s annual report that increase in market interest rates will significantly increase revenues from the management of foreign currency assets in the coming years.

Last year, currency reserves increased by $1.9 bn, or 27%, to $9 bn. The purchase of foreign currency on the domestic market had increasing effect on currency reserves and, mainly, on the exchange rate difference.
