April 14, Fineko/abc.az. Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, during his first state visit to China, called on developing countries to abandon the dollar in favor of their currency in international trade.

ABC.AZ reports that he proposed to the BRICS group of countries (which includes Russia, India and South Africa in addition to Brazil and China) to develop their own alternative currency for use in trade in order to put an end to the dominance of the dollar.

"Who decided that our currencies are weak and have no value in other countries? Who decided to make the dollar the main currency after the abolition of the gold standard?", da Silva asked and stressed that Beijing supports efforts to use the yuan to regulate international commodity transactions.
