April 13, Fineko/abc.az. Nikolay Mashkov, chairman of Moscow Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s commission on foreign economic cooperation with partners in Iran, said that Russia is interested in industrial cooperation with Iran.

Azerbaijan also has trade relations with both countries. However, in recent days it remains unclear how the political relations between Azerbaijan and Iran will affect these relations, ABC.AZ reports, citing economist Natig Jafarli.

He said that, unfortunately, the tension of political relations between Azerbaijan and Iran has recently created obstacles to the expansion of trade turnover.

The expert added that trade relations between the two states are wide: "If we look at the trade relations between Azerbaijan and Iran, we will see that last year the turnover amounted to about half a billion dollars, of which Iran sold goods to Azerbaijan for about $460 million. Azerbaijan sold only about $40 million worth of goods. But the trade turnover with Russia occupies a place in the top three leaders of Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan's trade turnover with Russia is quite large, it is approaching $3 bn. He has a closer relationship with Russia."
