December 12, Fineko/abc.az. At last week’s Milli Majlis meeting Finance Minister Samir Sharifov said that in order to receive a normal pension, people must work for 35 years. The Minister's statement was met with ambiguity.

ABC.AZ reports that in an interview for TV channel Xazar MP Tahir Mirkishili noted that the country has rules for assigning pensions not only by seniority, but also on the accumulative issue.
Committee’s chair said that in Azerbaijan, as in some countries, the number of elderly people is growing compared to the number of working people.

Noting that over the past 4 years the average monthly amount of labor pensions has increased more than by 120 manats, Mirkishili stressed that next year the average figure in Azerbaijan will increase significantly. Explaining the issue of providing child benefits, he added that in any case, assistance should be targeted. The most modern approach is that assistance should not be provided to everyone at once, but after the need is established.
The MP says that the matter of child benefits is on the agenda of the government and Milli Majlis.
