September 2, Fineko/abc.az. Last month, Azerbaijan and the European Union signed the Memorandum of Understanding on strategic partnership in the field of energy between the EU represented by the European Commission and the Republic of Azerbaijan. I believe that the signing of this document was a very important step towards the further development of our energy resources.

ABC.AZ reports that President Ilham Aliyev stated this in his speech on the topic "The role of Azerbaijan in ensuring energy security" at the 48th International Cernobbio Forum in Italy.

"This memorandum serves as a roadmap for future cooperation in the energy sector. Based on this document, I can say that we plan to double the export of natural gas to Europe. I am sure that we will succeed," the head of state stressed.
