June 17, Fineko/abc.az. "The banking sector of Azerbaijan is characterized by low and medium level of concentration. It is linked with the large number of small and medium-sized banks in the sector."

ABC.AZ reports with reference to Central Bank’s document Financial Stability Report – 2021.

The report emphasized that the Herfindahl-Hirschman index, widely used in international practice to assess the level of concentration of the banking sector, shows low and medium level of monopolization in the banking system - HHI2.

According to the index for banks’ loan portfolio in 2021, it amounted to 1,017 (low concentration level), for the deposit portfolio - 1,741 (average level), for assets - 1,567 (average level).
