June 2, Fineko/abc.az. The National Bank of Ukraine has held a meeting on the discount rate.
ABC.AZ reports that the main bank of Ukraine at the meeting raised the discount rate from 10% to a record 25%.
“The purpose of this step is to ensure the stability of the exchange rate during the war and maintain inflationary processes,” the Bank says.
The regulator explains that a slight increase in the exchange rate will not have significant impact on the economy of Ukraine. According to National Bank’s reps, this will form expectations of further increase in the discount rate and wait-and-see attitude of depositors and, as a result, interest in assets in hryvnia.
