A new record on inflation in eurozone

May 31, Fineko/abc.az. According to preliminary estimates, the annual inflation in 19 eurozone countries accelerated in May to a record 8.1% in the history of observation from April's 7.4%.

ABC.AZ reports with reference to the European Statistical Office, analysts surveyed by DailyFX portal expected the indicator to accelerate only to 7.7%.

A year earlier in May, inflation of 2% per annum was recorded in the eurozone.

This May alone the consumer prices in the eurozone, according to preliminary estimates, increased by 0.8%. Analysts predicted that the indicator would remain at the April level of 0.6%.

At that, core annual inflation accelerated to 3.8% from 3.5% a month earlier.
