October 16, Fineko/abc.az. Since January 1, 2026, Azerbaijan has been an associate member of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). This membership enhances the capabilities of the national standardization system for the exchange of international technical knowledge and experience.
Ilgar Hasanov, deputy chairman of the State Agency for Antimonopoly Regulation & Consumer Market Supervision under the President of Azerbaijan, made the above-said statement at a training for media representatives.
According to Hasanov, cooperation with IEC, including access to international standards, participation in the work of technical committees and the study of international experience, will contribute to the development of relevant industries in the country.
"In the future, it is planned to continue work in the field of standardization, taking into account the country's economic priorities. In particular, it is expected to develop and implement new standards in such areas as digitalization, artificial intelligence, green economy, green energy, environmental protection, rational use of resources and energy efficiency.
The Agency will continue to take measures to ensure the accessibility of standards and promote their implementation so that they benefit the state, society, entrepreneurship and the economy of the country," Hasanov said.
