March 4, Fineko/abc.az. The war between Russia and Ukraine did not affect the Fed's plans.
ABC.AZ reports that this was stated by Jerome Powell, the chairman of the US Federal Reserve System (FRS).
He noted that the regulator has the desire and opportunity to tighten monetary policy in order to limit the growth of inflation.
Powell took part in a meeting of the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing & Urban Affairs on the second day of the presentation of the monetary policy report for the half-year.
Responding to questions from committee members about the consequences of the Russian-Ukrainian war, Powell said that commodity prices, especially energy, have increased significantly so far. Noting that this situation will increase inflation, Powell said that the "appetite" for risk may also decrease, and this may lead to lower investment and spending.
