February 24, Fineko/abc.az. We have a lot of work ahead – laying of water, electricity and gas lines, building roads, houses, mine clearance. Last year we allocated $1.3 bn, and this year we allocated the same amount for restoration work. The pilot project is underway, but it will take time. I must say that in parallel with this, during the occupation, we actively built houses for refugees, annually accommodating about 5,000-6,000 families, about 30,000 people. That is, about 70% of them live normally.
ABC.AZ reports that President Ilham Aliyev stated about this during a meeting at the TASS news agency with the heads of leading media during his visit to Russia on 23 February.
"We’ve built houses in Baku, Sumgait, Ganja and in many cities. But 30% still live in unsuitable buildings, in dormitories, in kindergartens, and in difficult conditions. Therefore, first of all, this category of people will be returned. We’ve already developed a master plan for the construction of the city of Agdam, the city of Fizuli, the city of Shusha, and other cities will also be approved in the near future. Everything will be done according to plan, there will be no chaos," President Aliyev said.
