December 10, Fineko/abc.az. "As of today, the number of residents in industrial parks and industrial towns has reached 89, and 55 of them have started direct activities. To date, business entities have invested more than AZN 6.2 bn in industrial zones and up to 9,500 jobs have been created,” ABC.AZ reports citing Acting Chairman of the Agency for the Development of Economic Zones Elshad Nuriyev.
According to Nuriyev, at the next stage it is planned to invest an additional AZN 400 million in industrial zones for existing projects and create about 2,000 jobs: "So far, output for AZN 5 bn has been produced in industrial zones, and products for AZN 1.4 bn (about 27%) was directed for export.
Nuriyev stated that residents invested $3 bn in the Sumgait Chemical Industrial Park, and provided jobs for about 5,700 people.
"In general, the SCIP residents have sold goods for AZN 3.9 bn to date, and AZN 1.3 bn (about 33%) was directed for export. Over Jan-Sept 2021 SCIP’s share in the non-oil sector of the country's industry made up 13.4%, in the export of non-oil products 27.5% (AZN 541 million), with production of output for AZN 892 million," Nuriyev said.
