October 20, Fineko/abc.az. According to the State Customs Committee, in the first 9 months of 2026, Azerbaijan's imports of fats and oils of vegetable and animal origin from abroad recorded a significant increase both in terms of physical volume and financial value.

The statistical value of oil imports, which reached $174.96 million for Jan-Sept 2025, grew by 28% up to $223.56 million.

At that, there was a 21% rise in the physical volume of imported products - the indicator increased from 115 110.77 tons up to 139,420.80 tons.

Over Jan-Sept 2026, the share of goods in this category in country's overall imports also strengthened, increasing from 1.04% up to 1.68%. Due to the fact that the cost of imports grew faster than the physical volume, the average import price of 1 ton of oil imported from abroad also rose in price, from nearly $1,520 up to $1,603.
