October 6, Fineko/abc.az. In the 1st half of this year, the trade turnover increased nearly 6-fold up to $3.6 billion.

Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov made this statement when speaking at the 8th meeting of the Azerbaijan–UK Joint Intergovernmental Commission in Baku.

He noted that strong political and economic relations built on mutual trust have created a solid foundation for raising relations between the two countries to the level of strategic partnership.

The minister said that the strategic energy partnership, formed with the signing of the Contract of the Century in 1994, remains one of the main pillars of bilateral relations. Jointly implemented large-scale oil & gas projects, including the Southern Gas Corridor, contribute to regional and European energy security.

«The volume of UK investments in Azerbaijan exceeds $39 billion, and this country is the largest foreign investor in Azerbaijan,” the minister stressed.
