October 6, Fineko/abc.az. Over Jan-Sept 2026, the volume of repo transactions at the Baku Stock Exchange declined by 35% to 26.19 billion manats due to a sharp drop on transactions with corporate securities (a decrease of 91.7% to 989.87 million manats).
While repo transactions made up 78.1% of overall turnover, the volume of repo transactions with government bonds decreased by 14.4% to 23.90 billion manats, and with Central Bank promissory notes increased by 137.8% up to 1.29 billion manats.
At that, despite the fact that overall trading turnover of the Exchange lowered by 34.2% to 33.53 billion manats, the number of concluded transactions increased by 115% up to 48,570.
The repo market saw a decline in the turnover of government securities (a drop of 78.3%) and mortgage bonds (a drop of 30.7%), while there was a significant increase on Central Bank banknotes (a rise of 142.8%) and corporate securities (a rise of 138.8%).
In general, excluding repo operations, the volume of the primary market decreased by 15.2% to 4.65 billion manats and the secondary market by 48.2% to 2.69 billion manats.
