September 21, Fineko/abc.az. Enterprises for the cultivation, processing and export of food frogs are operating in Azerbaijan. Most of the products are supplied to European markets in the form of frozen frog legs.

AZARIFROG LLC in the village of Shorsulu, Salyan region, and Az Fish and Frog LLC in the village of Gizilagaj, Masalli region, are engaged in the production and processing of frog meat in the country.

According to representatives of enterprises and specialists, edible lake frogs are grown on farms. After processing, the products are packaged and exported in frozen form.

Where are the products exported to

Frog legs are practically not in demand at the domestic market, so the bulk of the products are intended for export. According to the Azerbaijan Food Safety Agency (AQTA), European countries are among the main sales markets.

In 2025, more than 18 tons of frog legs were exported to Italy. The products are also shipped to France and Spain.

Export volume

According to the data provided, the annual export of frozen frog legs from Azerbaijan is about 20-23 tons.

At the wholesale price of $15-25 per kg indicated in the source material, the cost of such a volume of products is approx. $300,000-575,000 a year.

Thus, the export of frog legs remains a small area of foreign trade, focused mainly on the European market.
