September 8, Fineko/abc.az. Spot gold advanced 0.6% to $4,429.89 per ounce on Tuesday, bolstered by a 0.4% pullback in the US Dollar Index (DXY) and escalating geopolitical friction in the Middle East. US gold futures for December delivery traded flat at $4,475.10 per ounce.
Market focus shifts to upcoming US inflation releases—the PPI on Thursday and CPI on Friday—which will shape expectations for the Federal Reserve's policy meeting next week. Traders are currently pricing in a 60% probability of a Fed rate hike. However, analysts at Marex note that heightened geopolitical risk, following Iran's military threats against US naval assets, continues to floor gold prices against traditional interest rate headwinds.
Among other precious metals, spot silver gained 1% to $66.78 per ounce, platinum edged up 0.4% to $1,834, and palladium rose 1% to $1,402.87.
