The U.S. dollar index climbed near a one-week high to 99.18, bolstered by persistent inflation pressures that have led traders to price in a 35% chance of a Fed rate hike in September and a 75% probability by December.
In FX markets, the euro traded at $1.1645, sterling at $1.3588, and the yen settled at 159.55 per dollar. The Australian dollar touched a three-month high of $0.7205, whereas the Canadian dollar held flat at $1.3844 due to trade friction. Meanwhile, crypto markets saw significant movement as Bitcoin briefly topped $81,000, setting up a near 30% monthly surge.
