August 17, Fineko/abc.az. Credit rating agency Fitch Ratings has affirmed the United Kingdom's long-term issuer default rating at 'AA-' with a "stable" outlook.
According to Fitch, the rating is underpinned by the UK's high-income, diversified economy and the status of sterling as a global reserve currency, though high public and external debt levels remain key constraints.
Fitch projects the UK economy to grow by 0.9% in 2026, 1.2% in 2027, and 1.4% in 2028. Inflation is expected to reach 3.7% by the end of 2026 before easing back to the Bank of England's 2% target by late 2028. The central bank is anticipated to hold its policy rate steady at 3.75% throughout 2026.
