Gold Drops to $4,326 per Ounce as Profit-Taking Drives Weekly Losses

10:17 - 14.08.2026

August 14, Fineko/abc.az. Gold prices slipped on Friday as investors turned to profit-taking, putting the precious metal on track to end the week lower.

After touching its highest level since June 5 on Thursday, gold ended that session down 1.3% and continued its decline heading into the weekend.

Market Prices:

  • Spot gold: fell 0.5% to $4,326.75 per ounce;

  • U.S. December gold futures: dropped nearly 1% to $4,382.50 per ounce.

Gold had previously drawn support from softer U.S. inflation figures and falling non-farm payrolls, which reduced the probability of a September Fed rate hike from 55% to 35%. Analysts noted that the lack of a strong near-term catalyst prompted speculative traders to lock in gains. However, a break above $4,400 could open the door to $5,000 by year-end.

Other Precious Metals:

  • Spot silver: fell 0.4% to $64.17 per ounce;

  • Platinum: declined 0.3% to $1,711.84 per ounce;

  • Palladium: held steady at $1,306.98 per ounce.
