August 13, Fineko/abc.az. Milder inflation data in the US dampened expectations for further Federal Reserve rate hikes, pushing the Nasdaq 100 index to a one-month high. In Asia, South Korea’s Kospi index surged up to 4.8%, led by memory chipmakers Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix.

Key Market Indicators:

  • Commodities: Spot gold rose 0.9% to approach $4,450 per ounce. Oil prices paused their six-day rally, with Brent crude dipping below $88 per barrel and WTI hovering near $82.

  • Foreign Exchange: The Turkish Lira traded at 47.77 per US dollar.

  • MSCI Rebalancing: In its August review, MSCI added Astor Enerji to the MSCI Global Standard Index. The Small Cap Index gained Tera Yatırım, Tera Finansal, Rönesans Gayrimenkul, Borusan, Kardemir, and Europower, while Arçelik and Katılımevim were removed. The changes take effect at the close of August 31.
