July 16, Fineko/abc.az. Uber Technologies (U.S.) has entered into an agreement to purchase German food delivery service Delivery Hero, offering 41.50 euros per share.

The Berlin-based company, a major shareholder of which is Amsterdam-listed investment group Prosus, has already signed the relevant contract.

This deal reflects a wave of consolidation in the food delivery sector amid slowing growth and fierce competition (DoorDash previously agreed to purchase British-based Deliveroo, while Prosus acquired Just Eat Takeaway.com). The acquisition will significantly strengthen Uber's international position.

Notably, Delivery Hero has been undergoing a strategic review under pressure from shareholders, including hedge fund Aspex Management, which previously ousted the company's founder, Niklas Östberg, and has been lobbying for further asset sales.
