July 1, Fineko/abc.az. Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has announced the beginning of a new era in the country's history with the entry into force of the updated Constitution on July 1. According to Tokayev, this marks deep reforms, reset of state institutions, and transition to dynamic development.
ABC.AZ reports that the head of state called the changes epoch-making and reminded that the course for transformations was supported at the March 15 referendum. He expressed confidence that Kazakhstan would become a fair state with equal opportunities for all.
The new Constitution provides for the transition to a unicameral parliament, introduction of the position of vice-president, and the reform of a number of state bodies. The previous version of the Basic Law had been in effect since 1995.
