June 17, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan considers regional integration and economic partnership as one of the main conditions for sustainable and long-term development.

ABC.AZ reports that Yusif Abdullayev, the executive director of the Azerbaijan Export & Investment Promotion Agency (AZPROMO), said this at the panel discussion "Reducing risks in the field of trade and investment for the sake of regional prosperity", organized in Baku as part of the annual meetings of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) group.

"Our country has secured the status of a strategic hub in the energy and transport sectors. In addition, we strive to become a center of international trade and investment activity. Thanks to huge investments in infrastructure and consistent economic reforms, we have contributed to the free movement of goods and services, strengthening our role in connecting markets along the East-West and North-South corridors. In particular, in 2020-2025, the value of Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover increased more than 2-fold from $24.5 billion up to $49.4 billion," he stressed.

The head of AZPROMO noted that Azerbaijan, at the same time, is purposefully pursuing a course towards diversifying the national economy.

"Despite the fact that the energy sector is still an important pillar of our economy, country's strategic vision goes far beyond the hydrocarbon sector: we are creating new prospects for domestic and foreign investors in priority areas that will determine and accelerate sustainable growth in the future," Abdullayev added.
