June 16, Fineko/abc.az. European Union member states are discussing the allocation of €20 billion to establish and fund migrant processing centers outside the EU borders for the 2028–2034 period.
According to ABC.AZ, this funding could account for approximately 10% of the bloc's external action budget. The proposed centers are intended to house rejected asylum seekers while they await the outcomes of their appeals or formal deportation procedures. Although a definitive agreement has yet to be finalized, the framework document is currently being prepared for approval by the Council of the EU and the European Parliament.
