New rules for car owners' insurance premiums come into force

11:05 - 16.06.2026

June 16, Fineko/abc.az. The changes made on April 1 to the rules for calculating insurance premiums for compulsory civil liability insurance for vehicle owners came into force on June 16.

ABC.AZ reports that the changes provide for replacing the coefficient of authorized drivers with the coefficient of vehicle owners, and the bonus-malus coefficient with the coefficient of insurance history.

Thus, when calculating compulsory insurance contributions, it is the insurance history coefficient that will be applied, and not the bonus-malus coefficient.

The insurance history coefficient will be applied when calculating the insurance premium for 1 year, which must be paid when concluding a compulsory civil liability insurance contract for vehicle owners.

For the purposes of this rule, the insurance history coefficient cannot be lower than 0.60 and higher than 3.

The coefficient of a person's insurance history will be formed separately for each assessment group, being linked to the person himself, based on his insurance history with the application of appropriate discounts and allowances.
