Iranian Media: Tehran Makes "No Commitment" to Transfer Control of the Strait of Hormuz

June 12, Fineko/abc.az. Iranian state media outlets have disclosed critical counter-details regarding the upcoming 14-point draft memorandum of understanding with the United States, drawing a strict sovereign line over maritime jurisdiction.

According to ABC.AZ, citing Iran’s official state news agency IRNA, Tehran has entered "no baseline commitment" regarding the transfer or delegation of administrative control over the Strait of Hormuz within the temporary framework.

Iranian officials maintained that the strategic governance of the waterway remains an isolated regional matter. The state decree posits that any long-term operational dynamics of the strait will be mediated exclusively through bilateral diplomacy and joint decision-making frameworks between Tehran and the Sultanate of Oman, systematically rejecting extra-regional or Western oversight.
