June 11, Fineko/abc.az. The Armenian nuclear power plant is capable of operating safely after 2036.

ABC.AZ reports that Minister of Territorial Administration & Infrastructures of Armenia David Khudatyan said this, noting cooperation with leading global companies and regular inspections.

The authorities have already chosen a model for a new modular station, a decision on technology is expected by 2027 and will depend on the cost of the project. Rosatom has proposed options for capacity replacement and participation in the new project, but there is no response from Armenia yet.

The current station in Metsamor has been upgraded, and the license of the second unit is valid until 2026.
