June 8, Fineko/abc.az. Three pharmaceutical products manufactured by Geropharm—"Sedjaro", "Semavik", and "Semavik Next"—have successfully passed certification for compliance with Islamic standards.
ABC.AZ reports that these are the first GLP-1 receptor agonist drugs in Russia to receive Halal status from the International Center for Halal Standardization and Certification under the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation. Halal status is granted to medicinal products after verifying their compliance with religious regulations. This guarantees that the products are entirely free of prohibited substances, including ethanol, blood, and porcine-derived cells or tissues. Additionally, medications manufactured from the cells of animals that were not slaughtered according to Islamic dietary laws cannot be considered Halal. Geropharm noted that their drugs are produced via peptide synthesis, which completely eliminates animal origin.
The company had previously received a similar certificate for its insulin portfolio; this recognition has now been extended to its treatments for type 2 diabetes and chronic weight management.
