Transmission of Electricity to Europe via Nakhchivan and Zangezur Corridor Discussed

 May 22, Fineko/abc.az. Within the framework of the "Istanbul Natural Resources Summit", the Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov held meetings with the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkiye, Alparslan Bayraktar, and the Minister of Energy of Moldova, Dorin Jungietu.

ABC.AZ reports via the Ministry of Energy that during the meeting with the Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, the sides expressed satisfaction with the expansion of the strategic energy partnership between the two countries through new projects. The contributions of oil and gas projects such as Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan and TANAP to energy security were highlighted. The importance of strengthening this successful Azerbaijan-Turkiye energy alliance in the electricity sector as well was emphasized. In this regard, discussions were held on the implementation of projects aimed at transmitting electricity from Azerbaijan via Nakhchivan and Georgia, as well as from Central Asia to Turkiye and Europe through the Zangezur corridor.

The recent signing of the "Memorandum of Understanding on Technical Cooperation on Energy Efficiency in Buildings between the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change of the Republic of Turkiye" was evaluated as an indicator of expanding energy relations.

During the conversation, Minister Alparslan Bayraktar stated that he would participate in the "Baku Energy Week".

Meanwhile, at the meeting with the Moldovan Minister of Energy, Dorin Jungietu, the significance of pipelines in ensuring the stability of gas supply under modern energy realities was emphasized. The ministers touched upon the reforms carried out in the energy sectors of both countries and assessed the opportunities for developing energy cooperation in various directions. The Moldovan minister also confirmed his participation in the "Baku Energy Week".
