May 21, Fineko/abc.az. Although Sumgait is currently the second largest city in the country by population, according to the 20-year master plan, Ganja should become the second largest city.
ABC.AZ informs that Shahnaz Badalova, Deputy Head of the Urban Planning & Territorial Planning Department of the State Committee for Urban Planning & Architecture, noted that there is a large park in Ganja with an area of 200 hectares: "But since the park is located far from the city center and there are no green corridors to it, residents do not actively use it. People usually prefer public places near the house with convenient access. That is why the new master plan provides for the creation of special green corridors. Human psychology shows that if pedestrian-friendly streets and green paths are created in a city, residents will use parks and public spaces more.
With this approach, it is possible to incorporate psychological and social elements into city plans. As a result, more sustainable, flexible and human-oriented cities are being formed. For this reason, I think that in future urban planning plans, experts in psychology, sociology, public health, and transportation should be more actively involved in the planning process."
