May 19, Fineko/abc.az. The heads of the three largest oil companies in the U.S. have warned the administration of Donald Trump about the impending crisis in connection with the situation in the Middle East and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
ABC.AZ reports, citing The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), that in recent weeks, the heads of the most powerful oil giants have warned White House officials that the prolonged closure of the Strait of Hormuz threatens to disrupt global fuel supply chains. In addition, the consequences associated with this measure may further exacerbate the crisis, the newspaper writes.
Officials assured the heads of companies that the traffic jam in the Strait would be eliminated within a few weeks, not months. However, some executives expressed concern in private conversations, noting that uncertainty due to the conflict in Iran hinders long-term investment planning. Earlier, CENTCOM announced the beginning of the U.S. naval blockade of Iran on April 13, with an exception for ships transiting through the Strait of Hormuz to non-Iranian ports.
