May 6, Fineko/abc.az. Funds withdrawn from Azerbaijan abroad in connection with illegal betting and gambling should be blocked, ABC.AZ informs, quoting CBA governor Taleh Kazimov.

He added that in the country, betting can only be carried out through a licensed organization.

"Huge amounts are being transferred abroad. Some individuals open card accounts, offer to transfer money to them, and then arrange access to foreign gambling. The volume of such payments reaches millions of manats," Kazimov said.

He stressed that the financial sector should not become an intermediary in such transactions and is obliged to inform the Financial Monitoring Service about suspicious transactions.

"I fully support this process. Technical shortcomings can always arise, but the general approach should be exactly that," the CBA governor emphasized.
