Growth by 1.8% reported on overnight stays of foreigners in Azerbaijani hotels

April 30, Fineko/abc.az. In the 1st quarter of 2026, the number of overnight stays in hotels and hotel-type facilities in Azerbaijan decreased by 3.5% versus Q1 of 2025 to 838,200.

ABC.AZ informs with reference to the State Statistics Committee that 57.8% of overnight stays were recorded in Baku, 9.6% in Gusar, 5.6% in Naftalan, 3.5% in Guba, 3.5% in Gabala, 2.8% in Lankaran, 1.8% in Ganja, 1.5% in Shemakha, 1.2% in Khachmaz, 1.2% in Shabran 1% in Aghdam, 0.9% in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, 0.8% in Shusha, and 8.8% in hotels and hotel-type facilities in other cities and districts.

Over Jan-Mar 2026, the number of overnight stays of foreign citizens and stateless persons in hotels grew by 1.8% versus the 2025 same term up to 493,600 (58.9% of overall number of overnight stays).

The distribution by country is as follows: 12.8% - Russia, 12.6% - Turkey, 9.5% - India, 6.2% - Saudi Arabia, 4.9% - Israel, 4.4% - Pakistan, 3.5% - UAE, 3.5% - China, 3.3% - Kazakhstan, 2.8% - Uzbekistan, 2.6% - Kuwait, 2.4% - USA, 2.3% - Great Britain, 1.6% - Germany, 1.3% - Iran, 1% - Italy, 0.9% - Georgia, 0.7% - Ukraine, and 23.7% - citizens of other countries and stateless persons.

78.9% of the nights spent by foreigners and stateless persons were registered in Baku, 9.7% in Gusar, 5.2% in Naftalan, 2% in Gabala, 1.2% in Guba, 3% in hotels in other cities and districts.

The number of overnight stays spent by Azerbaijani citizens in the country's hotels reached 344,600 (41.1% of the total number of nights).

For the past 3 months, revenues from hotels and hotel-type facilities increased by 2.9% against Jan-Mar 2025 up to 128.7 million manats, including 58.2% from room services, 27.3% from catering services, 3.8% from treatment and healthcare services, and 10.7% from other services.

The level of utilization of one-time capacity of hotels and hotel-type facilities in the country made up 18.1% (1.3% less against Jan-Mar 2025). This figure is 40.4% in Gusar, 39.9% in Naftalan, 34.3% in Shabran, 29.4% in Sabirabad, 26.9% in Baku, 22.0% in Salyan, 19.6% in Barda, 17.8% in Aghdam, 17.5% in Khankendi, 17.2% in Beylagan, 16.4% in Lankaran, 15.8% in Shemakha, 15% in Gabala, and in other cities and districts - below 15%.
