April 16, Fineko/abc.az. Britain's largest developer Barratt Redrow is considering the matter of switching from brick to wood in the construction of new homes amid rising material costs caused by the war in Iran.

ABC.AZ informs that a company, that constructed more than 16,000 homes last year, says it could increase its use of wood if bricks and other energy-intensive materials continue to rise in price.

According to the construction industry, prices for individual materials have already increased by up to 20%. The rising cost of gas in Europe, which has almost tripled since the beginning of the conflict, affects the production of bricks, steel and cement.

Barratt Redrow expects overall construction cost inflation to remain around 2% per year, but warns of further price increases due to higher energy costs.
