April 7, Fineko/abc.az. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the government of Azerbaijan have agreed to extend the loan disbursement period for two infrastructure projects in Ganja.
ABC.AZ informs that within the Ganja Street Lighting Project, the loan period has been extended from September 2025 to August 2027.
The need for prolongation relates to delays in the procurement of consulting services by the project group, as well as the conduct of tender procedures for the supply and installation of lighting systems. As a result, the loan of 12.5 million euros was not fully disbursed on time.
A similar decision was made on the Ganja Solid Waste Project, financed in the amount of 10 million euros. The term of use of the financeshas been extended until December 2026.
The project initially involved the creation of a management group responsible for attracting consulting services. However, the cost of the selected consultant's services exceeded initial expectations, which required additional technical assistance to cover the costs. The submitted proposals did not meet the requirements of the EBRD, and therefore the results of the tender were cancelled.
These factors prevented the disbursement of the loan funds within three years from the date of signing the agreement and necessitated the extension of their use.
