January 26, Fineko/abc.az. The sides exchanged views on the state of projects implemented by the Azerbaijani government jointly with the World Bank.
ABC.AZ reports, referring to the Ministry of Finance, that today Finance Minister Sahil Babayev held a meeting with a WB delegation led by Charles Cormier, Regional Director for Infrastructure in Europe and Central Asia, which also included Roland Price, Regional Director for the South Caucasus.
During the meeting, the current state of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the WB and prospects for its development, projects implemented with the financial support of the Bank, as well as current and future programs, in particular in the fields of infrastructure, urban development, energy and digitalization, were discussed.
Babayev said that within the partnership between Azerbaijan and the WB, which has lasted for more than 30 years, the Bank has allocated approx. $5.2 billion for 54 projects in order to support our country as a whole. He stressed that this cooperation has made significant contribution to economic reforms and provision of sustainable infrastructure in the country.
At the meeting, it was noted that within the project "Expanding the Use of Renewable Energy Sources" (AZURE), the built solar and wind power plants are integrated into country's energy system, ensuring the development of sustainable energy infrastructure. At the same time, the Employment Support Project and initiatives for its additional financing contribute to expansion of employment opportunities for the unemployed population and support sustainable settlement in the territories liberated from occupation. At the same time, the Regional Roads & Development Project strengthens inter-regional transport links, allowing for increased overall economic activity.
