January 8, Fineko/abc.az. Uzbekistan aims to develop Islamic finance within strategy Uzbekistan 2030, a document defining country's economic development priorities for the coming years.

ABC.AZ reports with a link to Spot.uz that by 2030, at least 3 commercial banks in the national banking system will start providing these services based on Sharia principles.

For the first time, the relevant products should appear in the pilot bank as early as 2027, and their step-by-step implementation will be expanded to three banks by 2030.

The updated draft strategy provides not only for the practical introduction of financial products such as murabaha, mudaraba and musharaka, but also for the creation of a full-fledged legal framework for Islamic banking: a bill aimed at regulating the activities of Islamic banks and "Islamic windows" in classical banks has been reviewed in the Legislative Chamber and sent to the Senate.
