December 25, Fineko/abc.az. In May 2025, Cuban banks began issuing Mir payment system cards, and Russian cards started operating in Cuba. Earlier, the country was also connected to Iranian system Shetab. However, in many countries, the use of Mir cards is still limited or completely unavailable.

ABC.AZ informs that earlier, system operator NSPK reported on the acceptance of Mir cards in 13 countries, but later this list was removed from the official website. Currently, information about the operation of cards abroad is generated based on media data and traveler reviews.

In July 2024, Russian Deputy FM Mikhayil Galuzin said that it had become possible to withdraw funds from Mir cards in Azerbaijan. The option is available at ATMs of VTB's Azerbaijani subsidiary. Although tourists complain that it doesn't always work out. It is also impossible to pay for purchases with cards at the terminals.

For comparison, in Armenia, only VTB Armenia accepts Mir cards for cash withdrawals, while in Georgia the payment system does not work completely.
