November 28, Fineko/abc.az. The world's largest nuclear power plant Kashiwazaki-Kariwa, located in Japan, may start working again. According to its director, if the local authorities give the final go-ahead, they plan to launch one of the reactors in January.
ABC.AZ reports that after receiving approval from the authorities, the plant operator, TEPCO, will have to undergo another technical inspection from the national regulator. This is expected to take about a month.
If everything goes well, this will be the first launch of a nuclear reactor for the company since the Fukushima-1 accident in 2011, the consequences of which the company is still dealing with, paying compensation. For Japan, this is an important step in its strategy to return to nuclear energy in order to be less dependent on expensive imported fuels.
