Amount of payment transactions within the country for Jan-Sept reached 72.2 bn manats

November 19, Fineko/abc.az. For the first 9 months of this year, the amount of payment transactions in the country by payment cards totaled 72.2 bn (29.1% more than a year ago).

ABC.AZ reports that Zakir Nuriyev, the chairman of the Association of Banks of Azerbaijan, stated this at the IX International Banking Forum in Baku as part of the cooperation of his organization with the International Card Organization Mastercard.

According to Nuriyev, this rapid growth also increased the share of non-cash payments in the total amount of payments by 4 percentage points up to 67.4%.

"ABA continues to voice our views on the future development prospects and reforms that we consider necessary to ensure the safe functioning of the digital payments ecosystem, recently on various platforms. In the next strategic period, it is expected to create an innovation hub, adopt a new generation of legislation on digital banking, improve the legislative framework in the field of payment services and payment systems, taking into account current realities and development trends, as well as some softening of the control framework implemented in the sandbox mode," he said.
