September 4, Fineko/abc.az. Developing infrastructure for the export of green energy from Azerbaijan to Türkiye and further to Europe remains one of the main priorities on the energy agenda of both countries, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov said at the 4th Azerbaijan-Türkiye Energy Forum in Izmir.
According to ABC.AZ, which cites Report, he noted that at the first stage, it is planned to export 1,000 MW of electricity generated in Nakhchivan to Türkiye and Europe, which requires speeding up preparatory processes.
“Acceleration of these processes is particularly important in light of new realities. Effective power interconnections between Nakhchivan and Türkiye remain one of the key outstanding issues for supplying green energy from other regions of Azerbaijan, the Caspian Sea, as well as from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, through the Jabrayil energy hub across Armenia into Nakhchivan, and then to Türkiye and Europe,” Shahbazov said.
He further noted that the Terms of Reference for the Green Energy Corridor Azerbaijan–Georgia–Türkiye–Bulgaria project have already been prepared.
“We must act intensively and adhere to the schedule. I am confident that this forum will make an important contribution to the implementation of all these projects,” he added.
