July 25, Fineko/abc.az. AzerGold received overall income of 1.69 billion manats ($995 million) from the sale of gold and silver on local and foreign markets for 9-year period of operation.
ABC.AZ reports that Zakir Ibragimov, chairman of board at AzerGold, made the above-said statement at the International Geological & Mining Forum in Nakhchivan.
He added that 94% of those revenues (1.592 billion manats) were received from the export of precious metals.
Ibragimov stressed that the company has paid 224 million manats in taxes and social contributions to the State Budget over 9 years of operation.
He noted that currently gold is a non-oil product that brings the country the highest foreign exchange income.
"We plan to make an even greater contribution by increasing export opportunities and becoming one of the country's leading taxpayers with annual turnover of 1 billion manats over the next 5 years," Ibragimov summed up.
