Slovakia plans to switch to 100% Russian gas in 2026, despite EU policy

July 23, Fineko/abc.az. Slovensky Plynarensky Priemysel (SPP) intends to fully cover Slovakia's gas needs through supplies from the Russian Federation from 2026.

ABC.AZ reports that this is possible due to exemption from the import ban during the transition period, despite EU's general plans to abandon Russian fuel by 2027. The company notes that Russian gas remains the most profitable option, although alternative scenarios are also being worked out in case of supply interruption.
