November 9, Fineko/abc.az. Today, on 9 November, Azerbaijan is marking the State Flag Day.

On 17 November 2009 Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on the establishment of the State Flag Day.

The date for the holiday was chosen not accidentally. On 9 November 1918 it was approved the flag of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. The Republic lasted until 1920. When in 1991 Azerbaijan gained its independence, the government approved this flag as the state one.
