June 5, Fineko/abc.az. In 2024, the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) focused on combating counterfeiting of banknotes and coordinating with law enforcement agencies by removing 882 counterfeit banknotes from circulation.

ABC.AZ informs that last year, 379 banknotes (32,611 manats) in national currency and 503 banknotes in foreign currency were discovered and withdrawn from circulation, which were transferred to law enforcement agencies for appropriate measures.

During the year, the cash offices established at the Central Bank in Baku and the territorial administrations continued their activities of accepting unsuitable banknotes from the population for examination and exchange, 155,200 banknotes (6.7 million manats) from citizens were accepted and exchanged.
