May 7, Fineko/abc.az. In 2024, losses in oil pipelines in Azerbaijan amounted to 4.5 thousand tons, which is an increase of 18.4% year-on-year.

ABC.AZ informs with reference to the State Statistics Committee that in 2023, losses in the country’s oil pipelines amounted to 3,800 tons.

In 2024, 38.75 million tons of oil were transported via trunk oil pipelines (2.5% less year-on-year). 76% of oil transportation was carried out via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) export oil pipeline. For the reported term, 29.47 million tons of oil were pumped through it (year-on-year decline of 2.4%).

82% or 24.17 million tons of oil transported by BTC accounted for oil produced in Azerbaijan, and 18% or 5.298 million tons (a rise of 1.1%) for oil coming from Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.
